Hi, We’re the team behind Penelope; a name we borrowed from The Odyssey; inspired by notions of family, integrity and attention to detail.We’ve taken over the legacy of the Coogee Bakery which has been here for 30 years. Our baker, a Coogee icon, has been humbly working here for the last 3 decades and supplies most of Coogee Bay road with thousands of burger and milk buns baked fresh every morning. We aim to continue this tradition as we continue supplying his old school freshly baked bread alongside himWe bring with us a coffee roasting background inspired by the patriarch papou of our family and his love for roasting fresh coffee over the last couple of decades, introducing our craft to this little spot as well as online via our coffee bean subscriptions.Penelope is a collection of all the things we love, Panini’s; made in house with our signature schiacchiata bread with a traditional European 72 hour rise, freshly roasted coffee with a blend that the big boss made 7 years ago, freshly baked scrolls, Greek, Italian and European baked goods, fresh juices + organic matcha made on the spot, and pizza al taglia (by the slice).We are also an online roastery supplying fresh beans delivered the day we roast.
